Set Review - 30059 MTT Mini

A while ago I saw an announcement on Bricklink for a sweepstakes.  Fellow blogger The Brick Collectors was looking to gain more readership and promoting their new paper magazine.  I entered the contest as many ways as I could and ended up being the grand prize winner.  The prize consisted of a $10 LEGO gift card, a copy of their paper magazine, and my choice of polybags.  I opted for the Star Wars one.

The magazine is very well done.  The binding does not fall apart and the pictures are decent quality.  Should the $6.50 price tag be a sticking point for you then opt for the free digital copy.  Many of the features and activities in the magazine are available for pdf download as well.  All in all I think it is a nice gesture for a blogger to go retro to a paper production.  Though not in lieu of their site, the magazine material is a little more timeless.

As for the set itself I chose the 30059 MTT Mini.  My usual fetish for all things mini would not let me choose otherwise.  Without looking it up I have no idea what MTT stands for other than Mobile Something Tank.  But one does not need to know the source material to appreciate the context.  And what I appreciated was a boatload of dark blue.  Even though I was sure this thing was brown.  Then again, Clone Wars what?

Sure the set is not available anymore from LEGO or one of of its exclusive partners directly.  But if you're a strict collectorvist you can find this set on ebay, Amazon, Bricklink or Brick Owl for a few bucks.  In fact there seem to be more of these sets than there are buyers right now so if you've been slacking, you slacker you, get thee to a computer and make one of these appear on your door step.
